Rolf works is a form of body work, which combines movement education to re-align and balance the body. As a result people experience:
Structural Integration was developed by Dr Ida P Rolf over 50 years ago in the USA. It is recognized internationally and is taught in the USA, Brazil and Europe. How does structural integration work? The bodywork component involves the systematic release of patterns of stress and tension throughout the myo-fascial system. The myo-fascial system is the fascia or connective tissue that surround the muscles. Superficial and deep tissue massage techniques are used. The education component involves awareness of existing postural and movement patterns. Learning more balanced movement patterns and better postural habits prevents the return of stress to the body. The ten series?Ten sessions of Structural Integration are required to align and balance the whole body. While one or two sessions may provide a client with some relief from chronic pain, such relief is usually only temporary as the underlying imbalance in the body has not been corrected. The sessions last 75 to 90 minutes each, which are usually spaced at one to two week intervals. Does Structural Integration last?Yes! Photographs taken of clients years after the ten series show that achieved changes had been maintained. Keep in mind, however, as life changes, bodies change in response. Injuries, accidents and emotional stress may necessitate additional work. Post Ten Work? When the ten series is completed, a period of six to twelve months is usually allowed to pass before further sessions are undertaken. This period allows time for the body to fully integrate the work. After this period of time has elapsed clients often return for further improvement or just a "tune- up". Free Initial ConsultationJohn provides a free initial 30 minute consultation to talk to clients unfamiliar with the work. He explains the method and gives a brief assessment. About John MoirJohn completed his basic training in 1998 and his advanced training in 2002 at the Guild for Structural Integration in the USA. He became interested in Structural Integration when it provided him with permanent relief from a chronic lower back problem. Link: www.rolfworks.com.au |
